The Spark

A Simple Observation

The idea began with a simple observation: families living without reliable electricity often depend on candles, kerosene lamps, or temporary lighting solutions that produce toxic smoke, severe eye strain, and constant fire hazards.

The Initiative

Responding with Practical Solar Tech

Akshay Oorja was created to respond to this challenge through practical, long-lasting solar lighting solutions. By identifying durable tube lights and solar home units suited to rural conditions, we set out to ensure reliable illumination.

Community Action

Direct Distribution & Outreach

Community distribution and on-ground outreach have since helped bring solar lights to households that need them most. Working closely with village families, we ensure each system is properly installed and maintained.
